Spell Jars: Self-Love, Protection, and Prosperity

All right, readers. For this week’s article, I’m going to break up the monotony and talk about my favorite subject: Spell Jars. Okay, okay. Maybe they’re just a culmination of a few of my favorite things.

Read: Jars, crystals, and herbs.

In this article, we’ll be going over a few easy spell jars to make: self-love, protection, and prosperity. These were originally posted on our Instagram, but we have compiled some of our most popular spells into blog articles for quick reference.

When creating these spell jars, be sure to cleanse your jar and focus on your intentions. For cleansing, I most often use smoke, and this can be done with any incense or herb bundle. After my jar is cleansed, I like to recite the purpose of each ingredient as I am adding it to the jar.

I like to begin my jars with salt for purification and their unique correspondences, but this also assists in preserving the condition of the crystals as well. Certain crystals are known to fade or deteriorate with prolonged salt exposure.

These jar spells, in particular, are good entry-level jar spells, but they are purposeful for a seasoned practitioner as well. These jars are a great starting place for a new practitioner as they’re fundamental to some of the most basic human needs and desires.

The first step to creating your own spell jar is to cleanse the jar. And for the sake of trying to minimize my repetitiveness, this step will be skipped from here on forward. The simplest method to cleanse your jar is with incense or another form of smoke cleansing.

So, now that that’s covered, here goes!

Self Love Spell Jar

First up: This Self Love Spell Jar when you need to attract a little more love + kindness in your own direction. After all, loving ourselves is the first step in both being able to give love properly and receive love properly.

I recommend doing this spell jar, alongside some shadow work, and placing this jar either on your nightstand, with you in your purse or bag, or making jewelry out of the jar so you can wear this piece on you at all times!

Read below for the ingredients + their properties. This simple blend helps me realign with where I need to be and assists in quieting that inner voice that can be unkind.

✩ Rose Petals: For self-love and attracting good things to you.

✩ Pink Himalayan Salt: Salt is known for its protective and purifying nature. It is used in rituals. to attract love, romance, and friendship in spells and rituals.

✩ Lavender: Calming, heightening awareness, and anti-anxiety.

✩ Rosemary: For empowerment.

✩ Rose Quartz: Promotes love for all humanity.

Protection Spell Jar

Next up: You should always carry protection. 😉

And by this I mean in the form of spell jars, protective crystals, banishing spray, amulets, whatever it is that makes you feel safe and creates a barrier.

There are some icky energies out there, whether it be spiritual or otherwise, and having protections in place is a necessary part of practice when delving into magic as well as just simply existing. Protecting ourselves and our energies is necessary.

Personally, I have several versions of these, and I place them on my person, in my vehicle, and around my home strategically to keep my protection in place.

✩ Black Salt: Used to absorb and dispel negative, physical, or emotional toxins.

✩ Amethyst: This crystal is said to be incredibly protective, healing, and purifying.

✩ Obsidian: Grounding, protective, healing, dispels negativity.

✩ Basil: Fosters loving vibrations, offers protection, and wards off negativity in a home.

✩ Bay Leaf: For protection, purification, healing, strength, good fortune, and success.

✩ Sage: The energy of sage brings cleansing, protection, and blessings.

Prosperity Spell Jar

And lastly, prosperity! Could you use a little more prosperity in your life? It seems most all of us, excluding the 1%, could benefit from a cosmic boost straight into our pockets from time to time.

Below is a jar to be used to bring prosperity to you! For this spell, I would keep this jar near your wallet or purse to draw money your way. Alternatively, if the jar itself is too clunky, you could use a sachet in the same way.

✩ Green Aventurine: To tap into this stones prosperous energy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✩ Citrine: For wealth and abundance. ⠀

✩ Thyme: This is a wonderful herb for attracting wealth.

✩ Mint: To attract business and energize your spellwork. ⠀

✩ Cinnamon: For drawing money and quick wealth.

✩ Coins: To draw more money to you.

This will become a series to collect our spell jars in one safe, cozy corner of the interwebs. If you’re interested in more spell jars to add to your repertoire, or perhaps you’d like to keep up on all things witchy, feel free to subscribe so you won’t miss an update!
